The Start of Planting

The sun is out and the weather is warm! It's time to get the pants that are ready into the ground. We looked to see what was ready to be planted and got to work.
But first we checked the extended weather to see if there was any dangers of frost. Seeing that the weather was going to be very warm for the next week we figured it was perfect to let the plants that were ready get rooted into the ground.
Most of these were early buys from a local greenhouse. They have been doing okay in my greenhouse but it was time to set them free into their rightful place for the season. So we started with the main garden area. This first set of planting we had a set of golden tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, flamingo (white bell) peppers, and sweet banana peppers.

We put them into our garden spacing them so that they would take. One row of tomatoes and One row peppers. Leaving room for more plant one we picked out what we wanted to plant.

We also planted some grape tomatoes in pots. We like to do this so my nephew (and the rest of us too) can pick them and eat them as they grow. I grew up doing it and it's always been a nice treat in the summer time.

We have an amazing view where our main garden sits. So sometimes its great to look up from where you working on the garden to take it in and take a deep breath and take it all in.

Next we moved onto some viney vegetable plants. Now this is just the start of them. Right here are some zucchini, spaghetti squash, and seedless cucumbers. We have a viney garden with some rich soil so last year they just went so crazy. We decided that its perfect and planted them here again.

The viney vegetable plants like some room so space them a foot to two feet apart. I like to water them in the morning before the sun hits them and then in the evening. They also love to crawl and wrap themselves around things. You will have to help them by training them. But it is the best way to control and grow them without them totally taking over a space.

We also had the start of some herbs to put in. Like I've said before my family loves to cook with fresh herbs so this is always a must for our summer garden. If you are a fresh herb person you will thank me later for the advice of giving yourself a big herb garden.

The first herbs to go in this year we got from one of the local green houses. We could not resist how healthy they looked. We are starting off with some Mojito Mint, Spearmint, Pineapple Sage, White Sage, and Flatleaf Parsley.

We use to have an inground herb garden. It was beautiful and did really well. But we decided to put them into pots years ago. That has made it so easy to walk out our door onto our deck, not put shoes on and snip anything we wat to put in out recipes, dishes, even drinks. So easy accessible for anytime we want them.

Herbs also have other benefits other than making your food taste so good. A lot of herb might keep mosquitos or other bugs away. This makes it nice as a natural deterrent for something you might not want near a certain area of your yard.

Lastly on the planting spree we planted bean and pea seed right into the ground. We planted them next to a fence because they also like to crawl up something. They're a early spring planting so it is perfect to plant them right into the ground. Space the seeds about an inch or so apart and watch them sprout and grow with regular watering in about a week! This is definitely something to add to anyone's garden.

That ended this days planting, But there is still so much to be added! Follow along to see what else is added. Also let me know what your garden is shaping into. Happy spring gardening!
